Dear Stan,
Thanks for a deeply moving account. We work with people who are dying with HIV in an urban part of west India and constantly have the question of wanting to be 'better' coming up. As we pray along with our friends we do see steps forward - but we also see many times when our prayers do not seem to be answered the way we want. There is also so much fear about disclosing one's status that our friends with HIV carry the double burden of the actual physical suffering overlaid with the deep emotional trauma of keeping that which is most hurtful 'under wraps'
As a group of house-churches we are also trying to speak into urban Indian society about issues of life ethics and are planning a public seminar on the value of life in the near future.
Blessings to you and thanks for making your inner world accessible to us all.

Andi and Sheba,
Thank you for your encouragement and for opening a window into your vital work for Jesus Christ.I think people in the West get lulled into believing the lie that this life is all there is, and that false belief causes us to inordinately fear disability and despise those who have disabilities. I don't know if that is the case in India, where notions of karma may play a role in shunning the disabled. Anyway, thanks for your insights.
Stan
